CDL A/B Driver — Building Materials Delivery

Job summary

Erie Materials seeks a Driver based in Poughkeepsie to safely transport exterior building products to customer sites. You will perform daily transfers between the Poughkeepsie branch and the Syracuse distribution center, with responsibilities including loading, unloading, and ensuring product protection from weather.

The role requires valid NY CDL A or B, clean driving record, at least 1 year of driving experience, and ability to lift up to 100 pounds.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State Commercial Class A or B driver license with a clean driving record.
• Minimum of 1 year of professional driving experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of building materials product is preferred.
• Forklift and/or Moffett experience are preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of and adherence to traffic laws and road safety regulations.
• Ability to interpret and operate GPS and other navigation tools.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift and carry building materials product by hand weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to pass a DOT physical and DOT drug screening.
• Ability to meet FMCSA Vision requirements and FMCSA Hearing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate company vehicles to transport and pick up building materials to designated locations.
• Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections; report issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized vehicle interior.
• Take POD photos of delivery site and product for records.
• Communicate with customers, dispatchers, and management.
• Provide advance delivery updates to customers by text or call.
• Follow routes and schedules accurately and promptly.
• Load product for deliveries; may have multiple trips per day.
• Complete paperwork and maintain trip records.
• Respond calmly to emergencies or unexpected situations.
• Drive to jobsite and unload product, verifying protection from weather.
• May stay after hours to pull orders for next-day delivery.
• Read work orders to determine product needs.
• Occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
• Operate forklift to load/unload and move product in warehouse.
• Assist in warehouse tasks as needed.
