Job summary

Tenet Healthcare is seeking a CDI Specialist to review medical records and ensure accurate documentation for severity of illness and risk of mortality. You will query physicians when documentation is incomplete and collaborate with clinicians to resolve issues before discharge.

Ideal candidates have nursing or physician background, CDI experience, and familiarity with MS-DRG classification. Travel to facilities may be required, and training in CDI guidelines is supported.

Qualifications

• Experience with CDI programs and MS-DRG assignment.
• Ability to query physicians to obtain complete documentation.
• Strong knowledge of clinical documentation standards and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records within 24–48 hours of admission for appropriate documentation.
• Conduct follow-up reviews to support MS-DRG assignments at discharge.
• Formulate and obtain clarifying physician queries as needed.
• Collaborate with care teams to resolve documentation gaps before discharge.
• Educate staff on documentation guidelines and CDI processes.
• Travel may be required to multiple facilities.
