SHORE UP!, Inc. offers a Child Development Associate (CDA) Trainee role in Maryland as part of our Early Head Start program.

Trainees assist teachers in planning and implementing learning experiences that promote intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development in a safe, healthy learning environment. They support family involvement and relationships between children and families while completing required coursework to obtain the CDA credential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Pass Criminal Background Check, Physical, TB Test, and Licensing.
• Enrolled in a program leading to an associate or bachelor’s degree.
• Enrolled in CDA credential program to be completed within 2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in planning and implementing learning experiences for infants and toddlers.
• Support development across cognitive, emotional, social and physical domains.
• Encourage family involvement and strengthen relationships between children and families.
• Complete required CDA coursework and participate in related observations.

Position Qualifications.

Trainee Requirements:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Be able to pass: Criminal Background Check (Federal & State), Physical, TB Test, Licensing.

Head Start CDA Trainee

• Must have a high school diploma or GED or AA or BS degree in unrelated field and.
• Enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree or.
• Enrolled in a child development associate (CDA) credential program to be completed within 2 years of hire.

Early Head Start CDA Trainee

• Must have a high school diploma or GED or AA or BS degree in unrelated field and.
• Currently working on Child Development Associate (CDA) credential obtaining experience working with infants and toddlers or has immediate plans to obtain the credential.

Educational Requirements

• Professional Education – Applicants must complete 120 clock hours of professional early childhood education, including 10 hours in each of the following eight CDA Subject Areas: Planning a safe and healthy learning environment, Advancing children’s physical and intellectual development, Supporting children’s social and emotional development, Building productive relationships with families, Managing an effective program operation, Maintaining a commitment to professionalism, Observing and recording children’s behavior, Understanding the principles of child development and learning.
• Have 480 hours of work experience working with children in the age group matching your type of CDA application.
• Pass the written exam.
• Complete Family Questionnaires and Professional Portfolio.
• Schedule CDA Council Observation.
• Be observed by the CDA council.

Job Details

• Job Shift/Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am – 4pm.
• Job Pay Rate/Range: Starting at $15.25 per hour.
• Job Locations: Easton, Eden, St. Clair, Maryland.
• Job Type: Full-Time.
