Position Description

JOB TITLE: Substitute Teacher/Teacher Assistant

DEPARTMENT: Calvary Christian Academy

REPORTS TO: Principal and Assistant Principal

STATUS: Temporary; Hourly non-exempt

HOURS: As needed, on-call

LOCATION: Calvary Christian Academy, all campuses

Purpose Statement: The CCA substitute teacher/teacher assistant plays a vital role in furthering the mission of Calvary Christian Academy and will work in the capacity for which they are hired. As a teacher substitute, the individual will teach, train, lead, guide, and follow the lesson plans to properly educate the grade level(s) in their care. As a TA substitute, the individual will follow the lead of the teacher and fulfill all the tasks, which they are assigned. These could be clerical tasks, supervision tasks, and class coverage tasks as needed. As a substitute, the individual must take ownership of the assigned role so that students are always well supervised and taught per the provided plans and or well assisted as in the role of TA.

Scope: The position is multifaceted in that the individual takes on the tasks of another staff member who is absent. As a substitute, this person is in constant contact with children, school staff, parents, and church staff.

The person who holds this position must be ordained, commissioned, or licensed as a Minister of the Gospel. The CCA substitute teacher/teacher assistant is a Minister of the Gospel in accordance with the requirements for licensure in Calvary Chapel’s Ecclesiastical Practices Manual. As a Minister, this role plays an important part in furthering the religious mission of Calvary Chapel.
