Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a CBTC System Engineer to join our Transit and Rail/Systems Engineering Team in our New York Office at MTA Headquarters.

The CBTC System Engineer will serve as the technical authority for review, coordination, and oversight of all CBTC design and system integration activities, ensuring compliance with contract requirements and industry standards. Strong systems engineering and migration expertise are essential, with knowledge of vital/non-vital hardware/software architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years in engineering with transit/rail experience.
• Deep CBTC knowledge: vital/non-vital subsystems, interlocks, OCC.
• Experience with DOORS and configuration control.
• CBTC project experience (5+ years).
• Strong safety record and policy compliance.
• Able to adapt to varying schedules and travel.
• Understanding of signal logic and interlocking design.
• Familiar with test sequencing, verification, and validation.
• Knowledge of NYCT operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership of CBTC design and implementation.
• Evaluate system architecture decisions for subsystems.
• Collaborate to ensure requirements traceability and validation.
• Review supplier and designer deliverables for standards compliance.
• Coordinate with NYCT operations to ensure design supports operations.
