California Virtual Academies is seeking a Middle School Teacher (TK-8) for a virtual, home-based instructional model in California. The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based instruction to students in grades TK-12 in California. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are required to complete approximately 4-6 hours of coursework daily, complete all assignments, and attend required live instructional sessions. K12, inc. is our curriculum provider.
Teachers provide daily, standards-aligned instruction in virtual classrooms, delivering targeted lessons that meet the diverse academic needs of students. In addition to whole-group instruction, teachers offer individualized and small group support, provide timely and meaningful feedback, and assess student progress through grading and ongoing formative assessment.
Building strong relationships with students is essential. Teachers are expected to maintain consistent communication and provide academic and engagement support throughout the school year. They monitor student attendance, participation, and performance, implementing interventions when needed to ensure academic growth and student success.
Middle school teachers typically instruct a single subject within a grade-level pod.
Full time teachers work Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:00pm. You are not allowed to have another job during these contracted hours.
Full Time TK-8 Teachers: Annual salary based on holding a Bachelors or Masters Degree and up to 3 years of experience in California

Virtual schools are new models in public education. They look both backward to what we know works well in educating children, and forward to see how technology can help us implement these strategies with children. Virtual school teachers are part of a pioneering effort. Our teachers, therefore, need to share the school's pioneering mission and approach.
Our teachers are responsible for ensuring that students achieve mastery of learning objectives. They provide guidance, instruction and support, manage the learning process, and focus on students' individual needs. The teacher is a highly qualified instructional teacher responsible for the delivery of specified course content both online and in person.

This position is a virtual position working from a home office. Must have ability to travel throughout the school year within and between assigned geographic areas to support students, attend regularly scheduled meetings, proctor state exams and participate in school activities and orientations.
