Elgin Veterinary Hospital in Elgin, TX is seeking a dedicated Cattle Hand (Veterinary Technician) to join our team. This role supports veterinarians and staff in exams, treatments, and lab work for cattle, goats, and sheep in a busy practice.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, with livestock handling experience, and comfortable working outdoors and around large animals. On-call rotations and weekend work are required as part of the schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience with bovine and small ruminants.
• Willingness to rotate weekends and be on-call.
• Ability to follow sterilization, lab, and biosecurity protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and clinical team during appointments and patient care for cattle and small ruminants.
• Perform and process laboratory work following protocols and safety standards.
• Administer oral, IV, IM, and ophthalmic medications as directed.
• Prepare medications, supplies, and treatment areas to support patient care.
• Set up for procedures and assist with surgical, diagnostic, and treatment needs.
• Monitor and record vital signs including temp, pulse, and respiration.
• Participate in on-call rotation to support urgent patient care.
