Job summary

America's Heartland Packing is seeking barn workers to humane­ly handle cattle, maintain accurate site documentation, and uphold cleanliness in the barn area. You will work with live cattle, move animals between locations, and ensure proper water access and gate security.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to work in a humid, hot, wet environment and around moving equipment with PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Work with live cattle.
  • Move cattle to locations within the barn (truck to scale, scale to pen, pen to knock).
  • Ensure gates are secure to prevent cattle mixing.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of cattle received and on site.
  • Verify cattle counts and pen locations.
  • Complete Ante-mortem inspection sheets before harvest.
  • Provide cattle with access to clean water.
  • Separate slow or challenged cattle; knock non-ambulatory animals as needed.
  • Communicate with Harvest Management, USDA, and Finance teams.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.
