Friona Industries seeks an accounting professional to support cattle accounting, procurement and livestock payments. You will help maintain daily and monthly financial reports and work with operations and accounting teams across locations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; degree in business, accounting, finance or related field preferred.
• MS Word and Excel proficiency required; cattle accounting knowledge helpful.
• Attention to detail, accuracy and strong organizational skills are essential.
• Ability to work independently and proactively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage cattle inventory subledger and related transactions.
• Prepare invoices and purchase orders for cattle and related payment processing.
• Verify invoices and PO information for accuracy.
• Process payments via checks, drafts, wires, and ACH.
• Coordinate with senior accountant to clear drafts and checks daily.
• Reconcile and close contracts in cattle procurement system and review close processes.
• Perform monthly lien searches on suppliers.
• Support month-end closing activities and cattle-specific accounting at corporate level.
• Maintain electronic backup of all related transactions and assist audits.
• Prepare operational and financial reports for management on a defined basis.
• Balance monthly general ledger for assigned accounts.
• Maintain contracting and cattle-related filing (tickets, drafts, etc.).
• Assist with documenting accounting processes and participate in special projects.
