Job summary

The Diocese of San José is seeking a dedicated classroom support role to assist teachers in creating a positive learning environment. You will help deliver instruction, monitor student progress, and supervise students to ensure safety inside and outside the classroom.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma (Bachelor’s preferred), bilingual abilities, First Aid/CPR certification, and proficiency with common office tools and SIS systems. Evening/weekend hours may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Course work in child development preferred.
• At least two years’ experience in educational programming or as an educational aide is preferred.
• Bilingual skills (English/Spanish or English/Vietnamese) preferred; English required.
• First Aid/CPR certified.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom management and learning environment; assist the teacher and deliver instruction to all students.
• Report student progress and behavior.
• Ensure health, safety, and welfare of students; maintain a safe, orderly environment.
• Tutor individuals or small groups; reinforce instruction; monitor drills and assignments.
• Maintain discipline in the absence of the teacher; supervise students inside and outside the classroom.
• Prepare instructional materials and assist with lesson plans.
