Job summary

Sunoco LP in Columbus, NE is seeking a corrosion technician to apply corrosion knowledge to repair, install, troubleshoot, analyze, and maintain cathodic protection systems across pipelines and facilities. You will conduct pipe-to-soil potential surveys, readings, coating evaluations, and read maps and drawings, generating reports and maintaining corrosion data in company records.

Qualifications

• Must maintain valid driver’s license in state of residency.
• Knowledge of corrosion control and cathodic protection.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
• Level B: 2–6 years of relevant experience.
• Level A: 6+ years and NACE CP CP2 + one of CIP1/Interference/Internal Corrosion Level 1.
• Relevant experience may include corrosion, cathodic protection, pipeline operations, electrical, instrumentation, mechanical maintenance, measurement, construction, industrial field service, or other oil and gas experience.

Responsibilities

• Install, operate, inspect and maintain cathodic protection systems across pipelines and facilities.
• Perform pipe-to-soil potential surveys, casing-to-soil readings, rectifier and bond readings.
• Read and interpret pipeline maps, as-builts, drawings and facility diagrams.
• Generate and maintain reports covering rectifiers, bonds, pipeline isolation and corrosion control.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA regulations and company procedures.
• Support PHMSA/state regulatory audits and training of other staff.
• Read maps, as-builts, drawings, schematics and facility diagrams.
• Communicate with other technicians and supervisors for repairs.
• Participate in PHMSA or state regulatory audits.
• Train other technicians as needed and evaluate knowledge for qualifications.
• Maintain safe, orderly, and functional facilities and work areas.
• Perform energy isolation lockout/tagout procedures (LOTO).
• Use safety PPE and follow company safety policies.
