Job summary

St. Luke's Health - Memorial - Lufkin is seeking a Cath Lab Tech to perform essential diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for cardiovascular patients. In this role, you will manage all ancillary equipment, demonstrating proficiency in various techniques and ensuring high-quality patient care.

Your experience should include 5 years in a clinical hospital environment, with certifications including Registered Cardiac Electrophysiologist. Comprehensive training and support will be provided to further enhance your skills.

Qualifications

Job description

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Cath Lab Tech, you will help deliver excellent patient care by performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients with cardiovascular disease in the cath lab setting.

Every day you’ll independently operate all ancillary equipment in the lab including but not limited to: IVUS, pressure wire, rotablator, IMPELLA, atherectomy devices, laser and angiojet. You will demonstrate competencies in scrubbing techniques of all diagnostic and interventional procedures, utilize good radiation safety practices and you will make a positive impact on internal and external customers.

To be successful in this role, you'll need to fully understand the importance of diagnostic imaging. This includes knowledge of the general imaging workflow, various patient positioning techniques, and capturing clear results for timely and accurate diagnosis.

  • Exhibits strong organization skills such as strong interaction and time management skills, independent problem solving and conflict resolution skills, and fiscal management skills. Ensures departmental atmosphere is professional and patient oriented to enhance patient care.
  • Responsible for managing staff and room activities to maximize productivity. Coordinates staffing assignments within room to ensure technical role assignments are responsive to patients’ needs and reflective of staff member abilities. Makes suggestions for staffing and procedural changes and collaborates with other departments in the hospital as needed.
  • Works in conjunction with schedule coordinator, managers, supervisors, and other room leaders to facilitate departmental productivity. Initiates actions to minimize case delays, reports schedule information promptly to schedule coordinator and other appropriate personnel.
  • Operates the radiographic equipment utilizing radiation safety procedures.
  • Operates physiologic recorder/database system with expertise recognizing arrhythmias and normal/abnormal waveforms.
  • Operates manifold, power injector, and other support equipment (VCR, ACT machines, oximeters, and transport monitors).
Job Requirements
  • Associate's degree and five (5) years clinical experience in a hospital setting.
  • Registered Cardiac Electr, or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, or Registered Technologist Radiography ARRT.
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 - days.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 6 - months.
