Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Special Procedures Technologist for the Cardiac Catheter Lab in Rahway, NJ. The role involves performing complex radiology angiographic and interventional procedures with independence, maintaining patient safety, and ensuring workflow efficiency.

Responsibilities include assisting physicians, operating fluoroscopy equipment, maintaining sterile technique, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology (RT) or graduate of an approved CVT program.
• Must hold Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• RCIS certification preferred; NJ CXT license and ARRT registry preferred; EKG certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for procedures and position them for imaging.
• Operate diagnostic fluoroscopy equipment and related software.
• Support physicians during angiographic and interventional procedures.
• Set up sterile trays and assist with catheter and guidewire passage.
• Calibrate and monitor equipment and report issues promptly.
• Monitor patient condition and communicate any changes to the physician.
• Enter and retrieve patient images using ICVS and PACS systems.
• Maintain knowledge of protocol, safety, and shielding techniques.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and technical staff in an invasive environment.
• Demonstrate initiative and multi-task in a fast-paced setting.
