Job summary

Heart Hospital of Austin in Texas is seeking a Registered Nurse for Cath Lab Prep and Recovery on a PRN basis. You will evaluate patients pre- and post-procedure, educate families, and support the perioperative process in a collaborative, safety‑driven environment.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, follow universal protocols, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. On‑call is required during select non-business hours; self-scheduled four weeks in advance.

Qualifications

• ACLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• (RN) Registered Nurse is required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the peri-operative process.
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation including IV therapy and preoperative meds.
• Participate in surgical site verification including briefing, timeout, and debriefing.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
• Consistently apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor during shift, and document changes.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment, and follow-up.
