Job summary

Hawthorne Cat is seeking a skilled Technician to diagnose and repair Caterpillar and allied equipment with minimal supervision. You will analyze engines, powertrains, electrical, and hydraulic systems, using Cat diagnostic tools, and you will plan jobs to control costs while maintaining safety and quality.

Responsibilities include updating Caterpillar systems, documenting work, and mentoring less experienced technicians.

Qualifications

• Five to eight years of experience in repair of Caterpillar or other heavy equipment products.
• High school diploma or equivalent, or completion of Level One Technician program.
• Valid California Driver’s License with a clean record; Class B license if vehicle is assigned; Class C required for general driving.
• Ability to obtain crane qualification test performed by Hawthorne trainer.
• Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and diagnose equipment malfunctions.
• Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and test and adjust assemblies with minimal supervision.
• Perform Caterpillar updates as directed by Caterpillar, Inc.
• Maintain accurate service reports documenting diagnosis and repairs.
• Guide/mentor/train technicians with less expertise.
