Job summary

Gourmet Dining is hiring a CATERING SOUS CHEF to support athletic events at RUTGERS UNIVERSITY in Piscataway, NJ. Join our culinary team at Rutgers and bring New Jersey flavor, rich tradition, and hospitality to VIP club buffets and tailgating for sporting events!

In this role, you’ll be part of a dynamic catering program, designing menus from elevated classics to chef-driven experiences for athletic events and catered functions.

Qualifications

• 5 years of related culinary experience including 1 year at the management level.
• Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations.
• Knowledge of food and industry trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, safety, food cost controls, and presentation.
• Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct the preparation and cooking of various food items.
• Planning and creating menus.
• Rolls out new culinary programs in conjunction with the marketing and culinary team.
• Manage cost controls and controlling expenditure.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
