Job summary

Gilmore Catering in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a reliable Set-Up Team Member to support events, load and transport equipment, and ensure smooth logistics. You will drive a 16-foot box truck, set up stations, linens, and decor, and assist with loading and unloading at venues.

The role requires long hours, weekends, and holidays, with a focus on teamwork, safety, and efficiency. Prior food/beverage experience is helpful, and ServSafe certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license and safe driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
• Willingness to work long shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Prior experience in food/beverage service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a box truck to transport catering equipment, food, and supplies to event locations.
• Set up catering stations, tables, linens, and decor at event venues according to event specifications.
• Assist in the unloading, organization, and arrangement of catering items at the event location.
• Break down event setups at the conclusion of events and return equipment to the warehouse.
• Provide support to event staff during the event to ensure efficient service.
• Maintain cleanliness of event areas during and after set-up, following safety protocols.
• Communicate effectively with team members, vendors, and clients to ensure event success.
• Ensure all equipment and supplies are secured and maintained during transport and set-up.

We are currently seeking a reliable, hardworking, and dedicated Set-Up Team Member to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the set-up and breakdown of catering events, assisting with the packing and transportation of catering equipment, and ensuring all event logistics run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely drive a box truck to transport catering equipment, food, and supplies to event locations.
• Set up catering stations, tables, linens, and decor at event venues according to event specifications.
• Assist in the unloading, organization, and arrangement of catering items at the event location.

• Ensure all catering equipment and supplies are properly secured and maintained during transport and set-up.

Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and the ability to safely drive a 16-foot box truck.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds consistently throughout the workday.
• Ability to work long hours (12-16 hours per day), including weekends, evenings, and holidays
• Saturday availability is a necessity
• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience in the food and beverage industry preferred.
• ServSafe food certification preferred, but we are willing to certify the right candidate.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with a diverse team.
• Positive attitude, flexibility, and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) throughout the workday.
• Standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining focus and attention to detail.
