Position Purpose

The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for calling on past and future social and corporate food and beverage accounts, following up on new leads, and assisting with the continued sales growth of the Catering Department. Ensures all events are set properly and guests are satisfied with arrangements. Also responsible for outside sales calls.

Examples Of Duties
Essential Functions:
  • Actively solicits established business to ensure repeat business via telephone and by cold calling, appointments. Obtains and records all required information for groups, approved by the Director of Catering. Performs follow-ups with accounts, including signed contracts, guarantees, guest room reservations, etc.
  • Checks meeting rooms prior to client arrival for accuracy of set-up, cleanliness, heating, cooling, proper lighting. Works with Banquet staff to meet client requirements. Provides on-site support during events to ensure satisfaction.
  • Handles inquiries for corporate social functions, creates a solid trace system, and establishes priorities to meet group needs and requirements.
  • Attends daily BEO meetings as needed.
  • Completes special projects for the Director of Catering.
  • Confers with Banquet Chef on custom menus, pricing, etc.
Other

Regular attendance as per Hilton standards is essential. Due to the cyclical nature of hospitality, varying schedules, including holidays, may be required. Hotel rules will be enforced, with disciplinary actions for violations.

Supportive Functions

Performs additional tasks such as answering phones, maintaining communication with departments, and assisting in budget preparation, as directed by the supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must possess excellent guest relations, supervisory, and communication skills. Understands meeting room capacities and configurations.

Education

High school diploma required; college degree preferred. Equivalent education or experience may be considered.

Experience

Minimum two years of catering sales experience in a hotel preferred.

Licenses or Certificates

None required.

Grooming

Employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of related employment experience.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and web analytics.
  • Four-year college degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of sales, marketing, and hospitality principles.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, make decisions, and handle confidential information.
Other Expectations
  • Adherence to payroll, safety, and security policies.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Availability to work during hotel operating hours, including weekends and holidays.
