Job summary

Florida Tech is seeking a Catering Manager to oversee on-campus and off-site university catering events. The role includes planning, executing, and cleaning up events, as well as scheduling and supervising catering staff and student workers.

The position requires experience in high-volume food service and strong relationship-building with customers and vendors, plus a solid ethical foundation and discretion.

Qualifications

Job description

Under general direction and supervision of the Assistant Director, the Catering Manager is responsible for the planning, on site execution and clean-up of university catering events to include retail and residential special events and concessions.

The Catering Manager will be responsible for scheduling, training and supervising all catering staff, the catering supervisor and student employees, to effectively support service standards and operations.

The Catering Manager will input approved service orders into the university reservation system under the direction of the Assistant Director of Dining.

Responsibilities:
  • Planning, executing and cleaning university events.
  • Scheduling, training and supervising the catering team.
  • Inventory, care and handling of catering equipment, linens and service supplies across campus.
  • Creating service orders in the university reservation system, attending event meetings and maintenance of customer communication.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within campus dining or the university.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience required in area of expertise
  • Knowledge of catering including onsite and offsite in addition to knowledge of multiple styles of service, presentation, staffing levels and breakdown procedures.
  • Experience in high volume food service.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining strong relationships with diverse customers and vendors.
  • Strong ethical background and ability to use discretion in situations

Annual Security & Fire Safety Report

The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requires colleges and universities, both public and private, participating in federal student aid programs to disclose campus safety information, and imposes certain basic requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations. Florida Tech's 2025 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Florida Tech; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.

The numbers provided include crime statistics that were reported to local law enforcement agencies, campus security and other Campus Security Authorities.

The report also includes institutional policy statements regarding campus safety and security measures; descriptions of prevention and awareness programs; related university procedures and important guidance; and other essential safety information.
