Job summary

University of Illinois Springfield is seeking a Catering Supervisor to organize, set up and deliver catering services for various events in the Springfield, IL area. Under supervision, you will plan and supervise food service for banquets, receptions, and conferences, ensuring quality and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Two (2) years (24 months) of responsible work experience in food service that includes event planning within a catering environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and discusses plans for each function with staff and vendors to estimate menu costs and supplies.
• Oversees and coordinates preparation and execution of catered events, including setup and liaison with clients.
• Assists in controlling overhead and labor costs, requisitions food, equipment and supplies.
• Assigns and supervises personnel during duties.
• Advises on best catering options to meet client needs including menu planning and sanitation.
• Maintains records such as accident reports and event schedules.
• Recommends new methods and procedures to improve operations.
• Detects malfunctions and ensures proper repair of kitchen equipment.
• Hires and trains service, production, and clerical staff.
