Qualifications

• 2+ years of catering or kitchen experience.
• Off-site catering experience preferred.
• Must have Cook County Food Handler Certificate.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 25+ lbs.
• Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
• Experience as a cave cook is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food for off-site catered events, ensuring quality, consistency, and proper execution
• Work closely with the Head Chef to execute the event menu and maintain kitchen organization
• Coordinate cooking, reheating, holding, and plating as directed by the Head Chef
• Maintain food safety, sanitation, and organization throughout the event
• Help load and unload food and kitchen equipment at event venues
• Work efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced, high-volume event kitchen
• Assist with kitchen breakdown and cleanup at the conclusion of the event

Hearty Boys Caterers is hiring experienced Event Cooks for weddings, private parties, corporate functions, and other catered events throughout Chicago. Our events take place at venues including the Chicago Cultural Center, Artifact Events, Fairlie, Salvage One, Greenhouse Loft, and more.

Most shifts are on weekends, making this an ideal opportunity for experienced catering professionals looking for flexible weekend work.

Compensation

$20–$26 per hour, based on experience, plus gratuities.

Key Duties

• Prepare and cook food for off-site catered events, ensuring quality, consistency, and proper execution
• Work closely with the Head Chef to execute the event menu and maintain kitchen organization
• Coordinate cooking, reheating, holding, and plating as directed by the Head Chef
• Maintain food safety, sanitation, and organization throughout the event
• Help load and unload food and kitchen equipment at event venues
• Work efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced, high-volume event kitchen
• Assist with kitchen breakdown and cleanup at the conclusion of the event

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional catering or kitchen experience; off-site catering experience strongly preferred
• Valid Cook County Food Handler Certificate
• Personal kitchen gear: chef jacket, hat, and non-slip shoes
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 25+ lbs.
• Reliable, punctual, professional, and detail-oriented
• Ability to work efficiently as part of a professional event kitchen team
• Experience as a cave cook is highly valued.
