Job summary

Country Club of Detroit is seeking a Catering Coordinator to elevate our Members’ experiences by planning meetings, banquets, and special events for Members and sponsored guests. You will assist the Catering Director with day-to-day operations and ensure flawless execution of events.

The role requires collaboration with department heads and committees, development of menus and contracts, and preparation of BEOs and room diagrams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Business or related field preferred.
  • Minimum three years of experience in Events or Food & Beverage Service Industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite required.
  • Knowledge of Jonas Software preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of food and beverage etiquette, guest relations and service standards required.
  • Oral and written communication skills required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills required.
  • Basic mathematical skills to complete reports, calculate estimated event charges, determine deposits due and establish minimum revenue requirements.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the club such as weekends, nights, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate multi-faceted events such as Member Weddings and Club Events (Tennis, Bowling, Swim, Day Camp, Golf, Bridge).
  • Collaborate with department heads, Members, Committees and teams to create exceptional events.
  • Develop menus, contracts, arrangements and letters for social and corporate events.
  • Prepare accurate Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and room diagrams per plan and department schedules.
  • Supervise and assist with event order specifications.
  • Adapt to constant changes and respond swiftly.
  • Create and present weekly and monthly catering reports as needed.
  • Stay informed on industry trends in catering and event planning.
  • Collaborate with Catering Director to generate new ideas and learning opportunities.
  • Understand and implement Club rules.
  • Assist accounting staff in correct client billing.

The Catering Coordinator is responsible for planning meetings, banquets and special events for Members and sponsored guests as well as assisting the Catering Director on day-to-day operations.
