Navajo Nation Gaming Enterprise is seeking an experienced event planner to lead catering operations and special events at our venues. You will serve as the primary contact for catering sales, coordinate with clients on event requirements, and oversee space contracts, food and beverage, and AV arrangements to ensure high-quality productions.
Responsibilities include budgeting, resource coordination, and on-site management from setup to wrap-up.
High school diploma or GED plus three (3) years’ experience in event planning or

banquet/catering operations. Casino or hospitality experience preferred. Must be able
to obtain and maintain Food Handlers Card and Navajo Nation and AZ Alcohol Server
certification. Must meet all knowledge, skills and abilities. Must be twenty-one years
pre‑employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license. Navajo preference.
Responsible for the planning and operation of all catering functions and special events. Works as a primary contact person for catering sales and promotions. Discuss events with clients and offer suggestions to ensure that requests are met. Assist with negotiations for space contracts and book event space, arrange food and beverage, order supplies and audiovisual equipment, make travel arrangements, order event signs, and ensure appropriate décor (florals, linens, color schemes, etc.) to meet the quality expectations of the standard of enterprise. Aggressively gather information on each project to achieve quality event productions. Conduct research, make site visits, and find resources to help staff make decisions
Create and revised room layouts for each event. Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process. Serve as liaison with vendors on event-related matters. Assist with managing on-site production and clean-up for events as necessary. Prepare nametags, materials, notebooks, packages, gift bags, registration lists, seating cards, etc. Close out all events as required. Assist with preparing budgets and provide periodic progress reports to Manager for each event project. Keep track of event finances including check requests, invoicing, and reporting. Coordinate appointments and visits to see our space, and scheduling of events on the calendar. Prepare and modify event contracts as requested. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit for prolonged periods, walk and stand; use hands for dexterity of motion; stoop, bend, kneel or crouch, and have normal auditory, visual acuity, and verbal communications skills. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Work is generally performed in convention rooms and Casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a high noise level. Evening, graveyard, holiday and/or weekend work are required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required. Tight time constraints and multiple demands are common.
