Job summary

Job description

The Banquet Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Banquets Department, ensuring exceptional guest service, efficient event execution, and compliance with departmental standards. This position supervises banquet team members, coordinates staffing and event operations, and works closely with culinary, sales, and other operational departments to ensure successful execution of banquet functions. The Banquet Supervisor leads by example while maintaining service excellence, operational efficiency, and team accountability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervises all banquet operations before, during, and after events to ensure successful execution of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
  • Oversees banquet staff during event setup, service, breakdown, and room resets.
  • Ensures all banquet functions meet Morongo Casino Resort & Spa service standards and guest expectations.
  • Reviews Banquet Event Orders with team members and communicates event requirements to ensure flawless execution.
  • Coordinates with Sales, Catering, Culinary, Stewarding, Engineering, and other departments to ensure events are properly supported.
  • Monitors service quality, guest satisfaction, and team performance throughout each event.
  • Responds promptly to guest concerns and resolves service issues professionally.
  • Conducts pre-shift meetings to communicate event details, assignments, and service expectations.
  • Assists with inventory control and ensures banquet equipment, linens, and supplies are properly maintained.
  • Maintains compliance with sanitation, safety, food handling, alcohol service, and company policies.
  • Assists with scheduling and labor management to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
  • Completes operational reports, shift documentation, and incident reports as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervises banquet team members and provides leadership during daily operations and special events.
  • Interviews, hires, trains, coaches, and develops banquet staff.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and provides ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
  • Administers corrective action and ensures compliance with departmental policies and company standards.
  • Develops staff schedules and adjusts staffing levels based on business demands.
  • Ensures compliance with attendance, grooming, safety, and service standards.
  • Promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.

  • Thorough knowledge of banquet operations, event planning, service standards, and room setups.
  • Ability to effectively supervise multiple events simultaneously.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and banquet management or POS systems preferred.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Associate's degree or coursework in Hospitality Management, Event Planning, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in banquet or catering service required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a lead, supervisory, or captain role within banquet operations.
  • Strong knowledge of banquet service standards, room setups, and event execution procedures.
  • Experience interpreting and executing banquet event orders (BEOs) and coordinating with kitchen and service staff.
  • Prior experience in a hotel, resort, casino, or high-volume event venue strongly preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

  • Lifting and Carrying: Frequently lifts and carries trays, tables, chairs, linens, and banquet equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; assists with event setup, breakdown, and room resets.
  • Manual Dexterity: Regularly uses hands and fingers to handle service equipment, prepare service documents, adjust table settings, and operate radios and communication devices.
  • Mobility: Continuously moves throughout banquet rooms, service corridors, and staging areas; requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and stooping for extended periods during event preparation and service.
  • Stationary Work: Occasionally remains seated for pre- or post-event planning, completing reports, or reviewing event documentation.
  • Tool Operation: Regular use of POS systems, radios, beverage service tools, and standard office equipment for coordination and communication.
  • Visual Acuity: Requires near and far vision to oversee event setups, inspect room layouts, monitor team performance, and ensure adherence to service standards and event specifications.
  • Working Conditions: Routinely works in banquet and event environments with exposure to variable lighting, crowded settings, loud noise levels, and kitchen areas. Regular exposure to a smoking environment while transitioning through casino or event spaces.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.

WORKING HOURS:

Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
