Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services in Florence, AL is seeking a Catering Captain for a full‑time role at the University of North Alabama. Responsibilities

• Coordinate catering staff schedules to ensure timely service.
• Meet with function organizers to discuss setup and changes.
• Interact with customers and address complaints.
• Demonstrate full understanding of menu items.
• Instruct staff on expectations for catered events.
• Set up rooms to desired specifications and deliver food and supplies.
• Serve food and beverages and maintain serving temperatures.
• Follow HACCP standards and ensure sanitation of equipment and workspace.

Position: Catering Captain (Full Time)

Location: University of North Alabama, One Harrison Plaza, Florence, AL 35632.

Schedule: Full‑time; days and hours may vary. Open availability is required. We will discuss details during the interview.

Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour.

Job Summary

Coordinates catering staff schedules to ensure all functions are delivered, served, and cleared in a timely fashion. Prepares and serves food at scheduled functions under the supervision of the Catering Director. May drive a truck to deliver food and beverages to catered functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Determine workload requirements from catering orders.
• Meet with function group leaders to discuss setup arrangements; address last‑minute changes and resolve problems.
• Interact with customers and resolve complaints in a service‑oriented manner.
• Demonstrate complete understanding of menu items.
• Instruct staff on work expectations for catered functions.
• Help staff set up rooms to desired specifications.
• Assemble and deliver food and supplies to scheduled locations.
• Serve food and beverages to guests.
• Return food, beverages, serving equipment, and utensils to the catering facility.
• Ensure proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures; follow HACCP standards.
• Maintain sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies, and utensils.
• Ensure proper food preparation by following approved recipes and production standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• A valid driver’s license is required. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid food handler’s permit and/or alcohol server’s permit where required by state law.
