Job summary

NHS Ayrshire and Arran are seeking a Part-time Catering Assistant to join the Catering Department at Arran War Memorial Hospital. The post offers two options: 18 hours per week over 2 days, or 20 hours per week over 5 days, with permanent status.

You will provide a high-quality catering service to patients, reheat meals with the iWave system, prepare light meals, and maintain hygiene and allergen controls in line with Food Hygiene Regulations and NHS policies.

Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Part-time Catering Assistant within our Catering Department based at Arran War Memorial Hospital.

Hours

Post 1 = 18 hours per week working 2 days.

This post is offered on a permanent basis.

Post 2 = 20 hours per week working 5 over 7 days.

What You Will Do

Provide a high-quality catering service for patients within Arran War Memorial Hospital. The postholder will be responsible for the safe reheating and service of patient meals using the iWave meal regeneration system, which utilises barcode technology to ensure correct cooking settings are applied. Duties will also include the preparation of light meals and snacks, such as sandwiches and soups, maintaining food hygiene standards, monitoring allergen compliance, and undertaking cleaning duties within the kitchen and associated food preparation areas. The postholder will ensure that all catering activities are carried out in accordance with Food Hygiene Regulations, NHS policies, and local procedures to support the safe delivery of patient meals

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required For This Post

An elementary food hygiene certificate or be willing to ascertain this certificate within 4 months of starting with the catering department
