Job summary

Marriott Tacoma Downtown, located in downtown Tacoma, seeks a Catering and Group Sales Manager to lead booking and service of events without guest rooms. This hourly, overtime-eligible managerial role requires energy, attention to detail, and exceptional communication to drive customer satisfaction and repeat business.

You will develop banquet orders, build long-term relationships, and coordinate with Banquet and Culinary teams to ensure flawless events.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Catering Manager experience in a Marriott luxury hotel setting.
• Minimum 2 years of Marriott CI/TY experience.
• Excellent negotiation, influence, and selling abilities.
• Strong time management, self-management, and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain composure under pressure and meet financial expectations.

Responsibilities

• Provide top-level service to clients with prompt responses to calls, emails, and leads.
• Solicit and secure hotel business through proactive sales using available tech to identify accounts.
• Develop long-term business relationships by networking and industry involvement.
• Create banquet event orders (BEOs) detailing setup, A/V, and F&B requirements.
• Ensure BEOs are signed and distributed to Banquet and Culinary teams per hotel guidelines.

This is an hourly Overtime Eligible Manager role.

About the opportunity

The Catering and Group Sales Manager is responsible for booking and servicing all events that do not have guest room needs, with the exception of rooms related to social events, i.e. weddings, holiday parties, etc. This position requires an energetic, detail-oriented person with a passion for providing 5-star service, a flexible can-do-attitude along with excellent communication skills to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.

What you'll get to do

• * Provide the highest quality of service to the customer at all times, with quick and timely responses to all calls, emails, and leads
• * Solicit and secure business for the hotel through a proactive, focused sales approach using all available technology to identify comp set accounts, new customers in the market, and existing accounts
• * Develop strong, professional long-term business relationships by attending networking events, becoming a member of civic organizations, and/or industry associations
• * Create banquet event orders (BEOs) with all set up, A/V, and food and beverage requirements needed for groups
• * Ensure all BEOs are signed by the client and distributed to the Banquet and Culinary team in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the hotel

Skills and Experience

• * Minimum 2 years of previous experience as a Catering Manager in a Marriott luxury hotel setting preferred
• * Minimum 2 years of previous experience with Marriott CI/TY preferred
• * Ability to negotiate, influence, and sell
• * Excellent time management, self-management, and self-motivation, with a keen focus on detail
• * Ability to maintain composure under pressure and possess determination and commitment to achieve financial expectations
• * Flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends, and holidays as dictated by business demands
• * Demonstrate resilience and flexibility in the face of change, with an innate desire to exceed guest expectations and have an uncompromising approach to service and follow-through
