Job summary

Central Valley is a prominent family-owned building supply company with eight locations in Northern California, seeking a Category Business Manager based in Napa, CA. The CBM will drive sales, profitability, inventory performance, and category strategy for lumber, building materials, and fasteners across all retail locations.

The role requires strong leadership, category management, sourcing, and negotiation skills, plus experience with ERP systems and Excel.

Qualifications

• Experience in purchasing, merchandising, category management, or supply chain.
• Experience managing or developing direct reports.
• Experience in negotiations and strong business acumen.

Responsibilities

• Directly lead people leadership and talent development for direct reports.
• Own category management for lumber, building materials, and fasteners across stores.
• Develop category plans including assortment, performance criteria, and pricing strategy.
• Lead supplier sourcing and negotiations to optimize cost and service.
• Collaborate with Operations, Sales and suppliers to drive growth and service.
• Provide category knowledge training for store associates and monitor performance.
