Job summary

Food Lion is seeking a Category Merchandising professional to manage item assortment, pricing, negotiations with vendors and promotional planning. You will collaborate with CM, ACM, and cross-functional teams to optimize shelf presentation and profitability.

The role involves analyzing trends, supporting banner strategy, and developing pricing scenarios to hit financial targets while maintaining an optimal item mix across Fresh and Center Store categories.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years combined experience in retail, merchandising, category, pricing, logistics, supply chain, procurement, and distribution.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
• Experience with SEGA, DSS, WMS, Relex, Inforem, Revionics, MSP, Syndicated Data (IRI/Nielsen), Market Track (Ad Tracking).
• Knowledge of Fresh or Center Store categories.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of Programs.
• Relationship management experience with vendors, brokers and third party consultants.
• Negotiation experience
• Retail experience

Responsibilities

• Provide support to Category Merchandising & Pricing (CMP) departments that will support achievement of departmental strategies and initiatives.
• Work collaboratively across departments to meet budgeted key performance metrics, including Sales, Movement, Margin, Shrink/Reclaim, Market Share, and Net Contribution.
• Analyze assigned categories to support Banner strategy and pricing changes.
• Execute promotional planning, display activity, and in-store marketing investments to grow market share.
• Recommend assortment changes as categories move through review.
• Review planograms and test sets to ensure standards compliance.
• Assist with vendor negotiations to reduce costs while maintaining optimal item mix.
• Establish and adjust pricing to meet financial targets and develop pricing scenarios.
