Job summary

C&S Wholesale Grocers is seeking a Category Manager to lead all aspects of an assigned product category, including sales, purchasing, pricing and merchandising. The role involves developing strategic category plans, managing promotions, pricing programs and inventory, and coordinating with vendors and store teams to optimize margin and growth.

You will analyze data, prepare reports, and communicate with customers, vendors, and management to drive category performance.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, vendors, and C&S management.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategic business plans for the assigned category.
• Develop sales, buying and profit plans to meet target sales and margin budgets.
• Manage product mix: variety, selection and quality.
• Develop and maintain pricing programs to achieve gross profit and revenue goals.
• Plan product promotions and maintain category planograms and merchandising.
• Manage inventory replenishment and investment buying.
• Oversee asset and inventory management, pricing integrity, and vendor partnerships.
