The Role

The Category Manager at The Honest Company will play a critical role in executing category management strategies to drive growth across Honest’s product portfolio. This position is responsible for developing insights-driven category plans, supporting key retail partnerships, and enhancing product positioning to meet customer and shopper needs. Reporting to the Director, Category Management, the Category Manager will work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Analytics teams to optimize category performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Category Analysis and Insight Development
    • Analyze market data, shopper insights, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for category growth and differentiation.
    • Track and report on category performance, providing insights to inform decision-making for assortment, pricing, and promotion strategies.
    • Leverage syndicated data (e.g., Nielsen, IRI) to develop fact-based category stories that align with retailer objectives.
    • Support the Director in building and executing category plans for key retail accounts, focusing on assortment optimization, shelf placement, and merchandising.
    • Collaborate with Sales to develop customized category presentations and recommendations for retail partners.
    • Conduct regular category reviews with retail partners to share insights, review performance, and explore growth opportunities.
  2. Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with Marketing and Product Development teams to support new product launches and promotional campaigns.
    • Partner with the analytics team to assess the effectiveness of category initiatives and make data-driven recommendations.
    • Participate in cross-functional meetings to ensure category management strategies are integrated into broader company initiatives.
  3. Project Management and Execution
    • Manage timelines and deliverables for category-related projects, ensuring alignment with retailer and business priorities.
    • Develop and maintain category management tools and resources to streamline processes and support the sales team.
    • Monitor industry trends and consumer behavior shifts to proactively identify growth opportunities within the category.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of category management, sales, or trade marketing experience in the CPG industry.
  • Proficiency in syndicated data sources (e.g., Nielsen, IRI) and data analytics for category management.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with a detail-oriented approach to managing multiple projects.

Compensation

The pay range for this role is $80,000-$100,000. Actual compensation is based on many factors including but not limited to depth of experience, skill level, ability, knowledge, education, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.

The total rewards package for this position may also include base, annual incentive plan, benefits, retirement plan, equity, and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
