Buc-ee's is hiring a Category Analyst to analyze and improve performance across major merchandise categories. This in-office role sits in Austin and Pearland, TX, with a compensation range of $84,000–$200,000+ total compensation.

You will develop category plans, monitor pricing, and build dashboards to turn data into actionable insights. Ideal candidates bring advanced Excel, experience with large datasets, and data visualization skills, plus strong communication and multitasking abilities.

• Data visualization experience (Tableau, MicroStrategy or similar).

Responsibilities

• Create and develop long-term plan and strategy for category development.
• Monitor market changes in product mix and retail prices for pricing strategy compliance.
• Analyze category performance: sales, margin, pricing, assortment.
• Identify opportunities via SKU performance, pricing, and promotions.
• Build and maintain category dashboards and reporting.
• Conduct competitive analysis and market monitoring.
• Support SKU rationalization and assortment planning.
• Lead project management, timelines, and processes.
• Partner with IT and data teams on enterprise reporting and data flows.
• Develop supplier relationships for category initiatives.

OverviewCategory AnalystLocation: Austin, TX (In Office), Pearland, TX (In Office)Pay Range$84,000 – $200,000+ total compensationThe RoleBuc-ee’s is hiring Category Analysts to analyze and improve performance across major merchandise categories.This role sits at the intersection of data, pricing, merchandising, suppliers, and in-store execution.You will not simply report numbers. You will identify opportunities, influence decisions, and help drive category performance.Ideal candidates will bring fresh perspectives, with no background in category management required.What You’ll Be Responsible ForCreating and developing a long-term plan and ongoing strategy for development of the categoryManage, analyze, and monitor market changes in product mix and retail prices to ensure compliance to the category pricing strategyAnalyze category performance including sales, margin, pricing, and assortmentIdentify opportunities through SKU performance, pricing analysis, and promotional effectivenessBuild and maintain category performance dashboards and reportingConduct competitive analysis and market monitoringSupport SKU rationalization and assortment planningTurn data into clear insights and recommendationsProject management which will include developing project plans, processes, and timelinePartner with IT and data teams to understand enterprise reporting and data flowsDevelop key supplier relationships for category management initiativesWho This Role Is ForThis role is for high judgment, high output analysts who:Think clearly with imperfect dataCan identify meaningful insights inside large datasetsCommunicate conclusions simply and clearlyCare about improving outcomes , not just building reportsExpertise is only as valuable as your willingness to evolve.
