Job summary

Archdiocese of St. Louis is seeking a faith-filled Catechist Aide to support the religious education program at St. Stephen Protomartyr Catholic School.

The role involves assisting in religion lessons, guiding students in prayer and faith formation, and maintaining a faith-centered classroom environment. You will collaborate with the Catechist and staff, support sacramental preparation, and assist with Masses and liturgical activities, while upholding confidentiality and Archdiocesan policies.

Qualifications

• Practicing Catholic preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with children in educational, parish, or ministry setting preferred.
• Ability to work with students of varying ages and learning needs.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, parents, and volunteers.
• Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and flexibility.
• Successful completion of required background checks and Archdiocesan compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instructional materials, classroom resources, and supplies as needed.
• Provide individual and small-group assistance to students to reinforce lesson objectives.
• Support sacramental preparation activities and other religious education programs.
• Assist with school Masses, prayer services, retreats, and other liturgical celebrations as assigned.
• Encourage appropriate student behavior consistent with Catholic values and school expectations.
• Communicate effectively with the Catechist and school staff regarding student needs and classroom activities.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student, family, and school information.
• Follow all school, Archdiocesan, and Safe Environment policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Catechist.
