Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is seeking a Classroom Aide to assist the teacher in providing a safe, faith-centered learning environment. You will support daily instruction, manage routines, and help students thrive in a Catholic school setting.

You will work with teachers to reinforce classroom expectations, support individual and small-group learning, and participate in faith-based activities while maintaining confidentiality and professional conduct.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with children preferred.
  • Patient, dependable, compassionate, and able to work with children.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to supporting Catholic identity and values of the school.
  • Must meet background-check and diocesan requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the classroom teacher with daily instruction, activities, and classroom routines.
  • Provide individual and small-group support to students as directed by the teacher.
  • Help students stay engaged and focused on assignments and activities.
  • Support positive classroom behavior and reinforce school expectations.
  • Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, and other assigned duties.
  • Prepare, organize, and distribute classroom materials and learning resources.
  • Assist students who need additional academic, social, or behavioral support.
  • Encourage students to demonstrate Christian values, including kindness, respect, responsibility, honesty, and compassion.
  • Support classroom prayer, religious activities, and other faith-based experiences.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with the classroom teacher and other school staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and school matters.
  • Follow all school, diocesan, safety, health, and child-protection policies.
  • Attend required meetings, training, and professional-development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or school administration.

Job Summary

Job Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children preferred.
  • Experience in a classroom or educational setting is a plus.

  • Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with the classroom teacher.
  • Commitment to supporting the Catholic identity, mission, and values of the school.
