Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a Property Catastrophe Claims Adjuster. The role is primarily home/field-based, with up to 75% travel for CAT duty and 80% of time spent in home or field settings. A company fleet vehicle is provided and relocation support is offered.

Travel to offices for meetings may be required, with locations across multiple states. The role involves investigating claims, determining liability, reviewing coverages, arranging appraisals, and settlement negotiations,

Qualifications

• Customer-driven solutions experience.
• 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims experience across operating territories.
• Moderately complex claims handling experience.
• Solid knowledge of casualty coverages and endorsements.
• Solid knowledge of the claim handling process.

Responsibilities

• Investigates origin and cause of claims by contacting insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, and others.
• Identifies issues and handles claims on a good faith basis.
• Handles 1st and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and endorsements.
• Conducts on-site inspections, evaluates damages, and negotiates with involved parties.
• Responds to inquiries, makes decisions, and closes files.
• Interprets policies and endorsements and applies coverage accordingly.
• Keeps all parties informed about claim process and status.
