Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a Catastrophe Property Field Claims Adjuster. You will investigate and settle property catastrophe claims, determine liability, secure information, review coverages, and arrange appraisals.

The role is field-based with a company fleet vehicle and up to 75% travel; you may work 4+ days from home or in the field and attend occasional in-person office engagements in Madison, WI or core locations.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
• Demonstrated experience handling 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims across operating territories.
• Demonstrated experience handling moderately complex claims.
• Solid knowledge of casualty coverages and endorsements.
• Solid knowledge of each phase of the claim handling process.

Responsibilities

• Investigates origin and cause of claims by contacting insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, and others.
• Identifies complex issues and seeks assistance as needed; handles claims in good faith.
• Handles 1st and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and endorsements.
• Conducts on-site inspections, evaluates damages, and negotiates with involved parties.
• Responds to inquiries, makes decisions, and closes files accordingly.
• Interprets policies and applies coverage to assigned losses.
• Keeps all parties informed of claim process and status.
• May be assigned other tasks or projects based on skills and experience.
