Job summary

Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont, Illinois, seeks a Group Leader for the Catalysis research group to provide scientific leadership, set goals, and implement strategies to maintain a high-profile program recognized by the international catalysis community.

The candidate will lead basic research in homogeneous and/or heterogeneous catalysis, discover new catalytic materials, and study properties that influence performance, with emphasis on reaction mechanisms and pathways aligned with DOE and

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with 15+ years beyond a postdoc.
• Knowledge in homogeneous and/or heterogeneous catalysis; mechanistic/kinetic studies; advanced characterization techniques.
• Strong publication record and peer recognition in catalysis/organometallic chemistry.
• Experience directing and leading large multi-investigator programs in catalysis.
• Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
• Ability to collaborate with corporate, university, and other national labs.
• Ability to mentor subordinate researchers and model core values.

Responsibilities

• Plan, initiate, direct and conduct high-quality catalytic research.
• Secure new project funding and manage budget/resources.
• Contribute novel knowledge to catalysis fields through research and publications.
• Develop new ideas and proposals for programmatic growth.
• Organize or participate in national and international symposia and activities.
