Job summary

Frye Regional Medical Center is seeking a Cat Scan Technician to work weekdays with rotating weekends and holidays, and to take call. Shifts at our Lenoir location may be required.

The role involves preparing radiopharmaceuticals and other medications, educating patients, monitoring status, and ensuring high-quality imaging while adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Two-year certificate, associate degree or bachelor\'s degree.
  • Current Radiation Operator Certificate in the relevant state.
  • Registered by ARRT in Radiology and CT.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals and other meds per physician orders.
  • Reviews patient history and physician orders.
  • Educates patient about procedures, equipment and exam.
  • Monitors patient condition and reports status changes.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies; ensures safety and quality control.

How you'll contribute

Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals as well as other medications to patients and performs the diagnostic study per physician orders. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Reviews patient history and physician orders.
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s).
  • Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
  • Enters, transmits and reports scan results.
  • On Call Availability: Must accept on‑call assignments for regularly scheduled shifts and be available to report to facility within 30 minutes of notification. This status will be determined by technologists on duty.

What we're looking for
  • Two‑year certificate, associate degree or bachelor's degree.
  • Current Radiation Operator Certificate in current state.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiology and CT.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
