Job summary

Memorial Physician Practices is looking for a dedicated Cat Scan Technician in Hickory, North Carolina. This full-time position requires a commitment to patient care, with responsibilities including administering medications and performing diagnostic procedures. Qualifications

  • Two (2) year certificate, associate degree or bachelor's degree.
  • Current Radiation Operator Certificate in the current state.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiology and CT.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals and medications.
  • Monitors patient condition and reports changes.
  • Implements safety standards and performs quality control procedures.

Schedule: This is a full-time, night shift role that will work weekdays, rotating weekends and holidays.

How you'll contribute

Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals as well as other medications to patients and performs the diagnostic study per physician orders. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s).
  • Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
  • Enters, transmits and reports scan results.
  • On Call Availability: Must accept on call assignments for regularly scheduled shifts and be available to report to facility within 30 minutes of notification.
