Job summary

Applied Underwriters seeks a CAT Modeling Analyst to manage catastrophe exposure data, cleanse and validate inputs, and apply underwriting concepts across multiple lines of business. You will model natural catastrophe risk using specialized software and work with reinsurance structures to strengthen risk management.

The role emphasizes analytical rigor, independent work, and collaboration within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• Two or more years of property catastrophe modeling experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry.
• Experience modeling natural catastrophe perils and analyzing catastrophe model output.
• Insurance and/or reinsurance experience and an understanding of underwriting concepts.
• Working knowledge of SQL Server, Microsoft Excel, and catastrophe modeling software; Verisk Touchstone experience is preferred.
• Experience with Excel automation, VBA, or other scripting/programming tools.
• Casualty catastrophe modeling experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage and analyze catastrophe exposure data across various lines of business.
• Understand, cleanse, validate, and prepare CAT exposure data and apply policy conditions.
• Model and quantify natural catastrophe risk using catastrophe modeling software.
• Collaborate with team to incorporate reinsurance structures into modeling and exposure management.
