Job summary

Austin Pets Alive! is seeking a part-time Cat Careworker to support the Cat Program across our Austin campuses. This hands-on role emphasizes cat husbandry, enrichment, and teamwork with volunteers to advance APA!'s lifesaving mission.

You will feed, clean, and care for animals, enter data, coordinate intakes, and collaborate across departments. Shift flexibility, evenings/weekends, up to 29 hours weekly; starting at $17/hr with potential stipends after internal certifications.

Responsibilities

• Actively contribute to a volunteer-powered culture with volunteers on every shift.
• Work with volunteers to complete daily tasks and ensure collaboration.
• Assist with recruitment and onboarding of new volunteers.
• Provide guidance and feedback to volunteers to support their success.
• Recognize volunteer contributions and maintain a positive culture.
• Explain tasks clearly and provide hands-on support to volunteers.
• Serve as animal caseworker providing outcome-focused care to pets.
• Clean and sanitize enclosures; provide fresh water and nutritious food.
• Handle, transfer, and transport animals between locations.
• Observe feeding habits and track relevant animal data.
• Maintain orderly environments; perform laundry, stocking, and cleaning tasks.
