Job summary

Cincinnati Animal CARE is seeking a Cat Care and Community Support Specialist to join our team and support CAC’s mission. You will assist with intake of found cats, care for the cats in our shelter, and problem-solve ways to keep a cat in their home or community.

Your day-to-day may include vaccinations, microchipping, low-stress restraint, phone and in-person consultations, data entry, and updating records, plus general care and feeding of cats.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • 1 year of animal husbandry/care experience and/or customer service experience requested.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Empathetic communication skills required.
  • Ability to lift at least 30lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with intake vaccinations and microchipping.
  • Assist with routine low-stress restraint for physical exams as needed.
  • Phone and in-person consultations with the public.
  • Data entry and updating animal records.

About the Role

We are looking for a Cat Care and Community Support Specialist to join our team and play an important role in supporting CAC’s mission.

In this position, you will:

  • Assist with intake of found cats
  • Problem solve ways to keep a cat in their home or community
  • Care for the cats in our shelter

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Your day-to-day may include:

  • Assist and provide routine medical procedures such as intake vaccinations and microchipping
  • Assist with routine low-stress restraint for physical exams as needed
  • Phone consultations with the public as needed
  • In-person consultations with the public
  • Data entry
  • Taking pictures of animals and updating records
  • General cleaning and feeding of cats in care

  • Contribute to an exceptional experience for adopters, fosters, volunteers, community members, and donors

Qualifications

Preferred/Required:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and one year of animal husbandry/care experience and/or customer service experience
  • Comfortable with all sizes, breeds, and species of animals
  • Ability to understand and adhere to policies and procedures
  • Possess empathetic communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive issues
  • Ability to work under general supervision
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to restrain animals
  • Ability to exercise judgment, tact, and diplomacy
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • Positions within this classification may require a valid Ohio driver’s license data entry skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift at least 30lbs

Compensation & Benefits
  • Pay: Minimum pay of $16.83 after a successful 90 day training period. $15.75 during the training period.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
