Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is seeking an Underwriting Technician to join our West Region Construction Casualty team, ideally based in Los Angeles or Seattle. The role supports underwriting through data collection, analysis, proposal creation, and post-binding servicing, coordinating with brokers and internal partners.

You will work with multiple departments, maintain files, prepare quotes and policies, and help ensure underwriting integrity in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional experience in underwriting support or a related field.
• Strong customer service skills for broker interfacing.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Detail oriented with solid drafting and invoicing experience.
• Self-starter who works well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Support underwriters with submissions and account development.
• Assist with data analysis, quotes, binders and policy issuance.
• Maintain underwriting files and ensure file integrity.
• Communicate with brokers and follow up on required information.
• Coordinate policy issuance with Operations and external partners.
