UPMC Passavant in Pittsburgh is seeking a Casual Patient Care Technician for the 5 Pavilion Orthopedic Unit. The role involves direct patient care under RN direction, assisting with ADLs, procedures and therapies, and supporting unit operations.

You will perform core PCT duties such as vital signs, point-of-care testing, telemetry, EKGs, specimen collection, and basic dressings, while maintaining infection control and safety standards and communicating with the health care team.

• Minimum compensation: starting hourly rates depend on role level (Care Attendant, Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Senior PCT).
• Rates shown per level: Care Attendant $18.19, Nursing Assistant $18.59, PCT $18.99, Senior PCT $19.19.
• Provide direct patient care under RN direction.

• Provide direct patient care under RN direction, including assisting with ADLs, procedures, and therapies
• Perform core PCT responsibilities, including vital signs, point-of-care testing, telemetry application, specimen collection, bladder scans, EKGs, and basic dressings
• Assist with unit and patient needs (e.g., responding to call lights, meal delivery, patient transport, and monitoring)
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment while following infection control and safety protocols
• Monitor patients and report changes in condition or equipment issues promptly
• Document care accurately and complete clerical tasks as needed

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to support coordinated care

Qualifications

Title and rate of pay will be determined based upon individual qualifications, experience, and education. The minimum hourly starting rates for each level are as follows:

• Care Attendant: $18.19
• Nursing Assistant: $18.59
• Patient Care Technician: $18.99
• Patient Care Technician, Senior: $19.19
