Job summary

UPMC McKeesport is seeking a Casual Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician to join our Resource Department. This flexible role provides hands-on patient care and supports the nursing team.

The position is ideal for nursing students, with a schedule of 36 hours every 6 weeks to fit around classes and clinicals. Responsibilities include monitoring vitals, assisting with ADLs, collecting specimens, and supporting EKGs and phlebotomy as needed while adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

• The Nursing Assistant role requires compassion and strong communication with patients and the care team.
• Ability to assist with ADLs and monitor patient vitals as part of daily care.
• Skills in EKG or phlebotomy may be used based on department needs and competency.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient procedures and activities of daily living.
• Provide physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary support as needed.
• Report changes in patient status to the RN.
• Perform nursing core tasks including vital signs, weights, and specimen collections.
• Demonstrate professional communication and safety in the unit.
