Job summary

UPMC Hamot is seeking a Nursing Assistant to join the 4 South Trauma team. This casual position involves direct patient care under RN supervision, including bathing, feeding, and mobility. You will support safety protocols, monitor vitals, and help with nourishment delivery in a busy acute care setting.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and completion of the UPMC nursing assistant training program; CNA certification is preferred. 36 hours every 6 weeks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of UPMC nursing assistant training program.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred; BLS/CPR per AHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN supervision (bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulating).
• Monitor vitals, perform blood glucose tests, weights, I&O, specimen collection.
• Report changes to the RN and respond to emergent situations within scope.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and manage supplies/equipment.
• Assist with meal trays, nourishments, and patient transport.
• Respond to call lights and assist with routine unit/clerical tasks.
• Document care activities accurately in the medical record.
• Follow safety, infection prevention, and standard precautions.
