Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a chaplain to provide spiritual care for patients, families, and hospital staff within the Northwestern Medicine system. You will deliver counseling, rituals, and bereavement support while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Required: Master’s degree in theology or related field and at least 1 unit of CPE (or in progress within 90 days of hire). This casual, rotated position emphasizes on-call coverage and adherence to ethics guidelines.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in theology, religion, pastoral care, spiritual care, or divinity.
At least one unit of CPE or completion within 90 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

Delivers a ministry of spiritual care to patients, families, and staff.
Identifies ethical dilemmas and references Ethics Committee as needed.
Participates in interdisciplinary team activities and care conferences.
Provides end-of-life and bereavement support.
Educates on Advanced Directives and Goals of Care conversations.
Leads spiritual services within the hospital in collaboration with the Spiritual Care Department.
Acts as spiritual liaison with community and ensures HIPAA compliance.
On-call coverage including nights, weekends, and holidays.
