Job summary

voestalpine Railway Systems Nortrak in Decatur, Illinois seeks a Foundry Metallurgist/Casting Engineer to drive process control and quality in the steel and iron foundry. You will manage data, troubleshoot defects, and support cost and reliability goals.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering with metallurgy emphasis and at least five years in a steel foundry setting, with SAP and data-analysis experience preferred. This position is based on site with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with materials/metallurgy focus.
• Five years in steel foundry engineering or technical role.
• Experience with data analysis tools and metallurgical testing.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve foundry processes, ensure safety and quality compliance.
• Lead process-control improvements to reduce scrap and improve yield.
• Conduct metallurgical tests, heat treatments, and hardness/microstructure evaluations.
• Troubleshoot casting defects and implement corrective actions.
• Coach foremen and operators in metal quality and sand control.
