Premier Aluminum in Racine, WI seeks a Casting Machine Operator for the weekend shift to set molds and operate permanent mold casting machines with supervision. The role includes basic setups, mold handling, and maintaining temperatures to produce quality castings.

Wages range from $22.50 to $26.50 per hour depending on experience, plus a $250 monthly attendance and safety bonus, a 90‑day review for potential raises, and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Basic math skills including counting, adding, subtracting, multiplication and division.
• Solid work history in a manufacturing setting.
• Mechanical abilities relevant to casting and machinery operation.
• Minimum of six months of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate permanent mold casting machines to produce quality castings to specifications.
• Perform basic setup procedures under general supervision.
• Handle mold treatments and placement of cores.
• Pour metal into molds and adjust procedures for material and mold conditions.
• Check first pieces and correct variations.
• Tend furnaces and maintain temperatures.
• Mount, align and secure molds; set temperature controls and machine stroke.
• Clean and coat molds and follow process sheets for proper temperatures and flow rates.
• Inspect pieces for surface defects and defects; adjust as needed.
• Perform finishing work such as trimming, deburring, grinding and routine maintenance.

Casting Machine Operator - Weekend Shift

• Wages: $22.50 - $26.50, starting wages based on relevant experience
• Days of Work: Monday - Thursday
• Hours of Work: 6am - 4pm

Primary Functions

Set molds and operate permanent mold casting machines and assist on setups and maintenance under general supervision.

Duties and Overall Responsibilities

• Operate permanent mold casting machines to produce quality castings to specifications
• Perform basic setup procedures under general supervision
• Handle all mold treatments and placing of cores
• Pour metal into molds, vary pouring procedures/timing to compensate for material and mold condition
• Check first pieces and correct variations
• Tend furnaces – load charge and maintain temperatures
• Mount, align and secure molds
• Make hydraulic power connections, set temperature controls and machine stroke
• Clean and coat molds
• Follow detail process sheets for methods and sequences to close and pour molten metal at proper temperatures, flow rates and cycle time to obtain sound castings
• Inspect pieces and recognize surface defects, short fills, distortion or quality defects
• Adjust temperature and machine to correct variations
• Perform finishing work on raw pieces, such as trimming, deburring, grinding
• Perform routine maintenance
• Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements for this position require continuous standing and intermittent walking, bending, sitting, and lifting of parts that may at times be in excess of 50 pounds. This is a hot environment that can reach up to 130 degrees in the summer. The Casting Machine Operator should have the physical and mental ability to perform the above necessary job functions while maintaining an exemplary safety record.
