Job summary

Century-Aluminum in Goose Creek, SC is seeking a Quality Coordinator to oversee the hot side of the casthouse, ensuring billet, tee, and sow quality meets standards and production timelines while upholding safety and environmental compliance.

The role involves coaching the casting team, improving processes, and collaborating with the hot side supervisor and mold shop to reduce waste and improve uptime. On-site work only, with occasional relief duties when supervision is absent.

Qualifications

• Clear and concise communication with team and management.
• Understanding of aluminum manufacturing processes and equipment preferred.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office; training provided as needed.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, audit, and improve billet casting quality and performance.
• Improve standard work practices and implement new ones.
• Monitor, maintain, audit, and improve furnace handling techniques.
• Monitor, maintain, audit, and improve sow line caster.
• Coach casting team on safety and quality.
• Collaborate with hot side supervisor, mold shop, process team, and cold side technician.
• Troubleshoot low recovery, casting aborts, and related issues.
• Optimize hot side processes to increase uptime, improve recovery, and reduce waste.
• Learn areas related to hot side such as holding furnace, sow line, casting pits, mold shop, etc.
• Comply with safety standards and regulations to maintain safety.
• Communicate via email each shift with casthouse lead team on quality.
• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Participate in toolbox discussions as needed.
• Additional tasks as needed to meet business objectives.
